Mudrooms

There's always daily clutter coming in and out of our homes, no matter how many people and what ages live in our home. Knapsacks, winter gear, coats, sweaters, keys, purses, men's hats, and more. This is likely the messiest and most disorganized part of our lives. How can we consolidate and organize even if we don't have a side entrance or a designated room available?
There are 4 parts of a mudroom that can be placed on a single wall, or in an oversized closet alongside your coats. I've created mudrooms in a screened in front porch, over a bench at a side entrance, and in a mudroom that shrunk from a full-sized room to a walk-through closet 30" deep.
Hooks for sweaters and kids coats
Shelf for knapsacks and purses and tefillin bags
Shelf with labeled bins for winter gear **
Basket or storage bench for shoes and boots **
* And, of course, a framed quote or informal family picture hanging above to anchor the space and make it intentional. Pick a style and a metal finish, and your mudroom can be up in a day! Tie it all together with a foot rug.
** Always measure your space.
